Weddings should be fabulous and fairytale like. Speaking of fairytales, who wouldn’t want to go with the “Old is Gold” theme? Vintage/retro styles are still considered hot! You may think old great granny looked bad, but take a good look at those old wedding photographs again, please. Those were the styles back then. And the arrangements were quite good. Now how about getting the best of both eras? To just copy the old fashion would not make much of sense. I would not want to just lift a fashionable gown out of yesteryear fashion magazine and get my tailor do it for me or just buy one that apes the exact vintage cut. What would really be nice is if we can merge few techniques of sewing or embossing here and there and in a good way see it all come up as something new. This is what we are doing with sketching. I personally do not have access to bridal magazines from the retro era and I do not like to Google up for ideas. I am thinking of new ways to turn and twist styles by reading how the gowns were. With no family photographs to refer to I am blindly mixing up few styles of gown trends just by reading some real good books and watching movies. Hope to post those sketches soon. Anyways, This sketch was done few days back when I was up one night startled by a nightmare. I love wedding florals, so here is Brand Olishna wedding illustration and this one is for the headgears!
XOXO.
